The holiday season hit with a vengeance and we are finally recovering! Q and I had a book signing in December for his book, "LeFaux" and it's companion, "Song of Leaf and Stone". I signed copies of my children's book, "Silvy and Her Friends" which is actually 3 books in one. I was delighted to see so many copies go out to be Christmas gifts for kiddos. (In fact, my grandson, whose pets are the inspiration for the books, gave copies to his entire kindergarten class for Christmas! Isn't that cute?)
Q will be releasing, "Grim" later this month. It is the 6th book in the "Snake in the Willows Collection" and brings back Lucius Grim, last seen in "Floyd". (You thought he was gone for good, didn't you?)
Also, hopefully as soon as next week, "Floyd" will finally be available on Audible! It had a few setback in production but Q found a wonderful voice actor in Jo Makin, and she gave "Floyd" the humor and heart that it deserved. You are going to want to give it a listen!
I am working on a new book myself. I had a dry spell, while a waited for inspiration to strike. A recent trip to the family farm got me thumbing through ancient photo albums and the lightning bolt hit! "Secrets in the Cane" was based on the family farm and a tragedy that occurred there over 100 years ago. The new book will focus on "Alice", a fictional character based on my great-aunt. She had a brownie camera back in the 1920's and photographed EVERYTHING. We are lucky to have such a record of the happenings in our family through the years. I won't write "Alice" as a true story because I don't know all of the details, but I will try to honor the person that I knew to be a wonderful lady.
On a personal note: Members of our family have become greedy enough to sell our heritage and there is a contract for the sale the farm. Half of the family was vehemently opposed and now it is up to the Arkansas Court of Appeals as to whether the sale can go through. Fingers crossed, we will be able to save this place which has not only been the source of our family's summer fun for decades but the museum that house our family history. I have only had access to these records to find the source for the books because the farm exists. I would hate to see it go.
